Bistro Mosman: A Review

In the heart of Mosman, you’ll find every local’s favourite pub, The Buena Vista - commonly referred to as the BV or “The Buena”. Attached to the Buena, is Bistro Mosman (previously Bistro Moncur Mosman). Upon arrival, the layout is rather striking in its appearance; simplistic yet chic. High ceilings with muted tones of fabric curtains, marble tables and well spaced settings offering a degree of privacy for guests.

For a brief moment in time, the elegance of the interior almost makes you forget about the main attraction; the menu. You’ll find the crowd pleasing usual suspects here, along with some welcome variations. The French Onion Soufflé Gratin is the sort of dish you go back to again and again. The Steak Frites is always hard to go past and for those looking for a veggie option, the new seasonal entrée - Poireaux Vinaigrette with Chopped Boiled Eggs and Crispy Leek is superb.

The deserts at Bistro Mosman are brilliant. If we could have a meal of deserts (and this ‘may’ have happened before) we would. What better way to finish a classically French meal than with a pillowy soufflé. This one is made with mango and is served with crème anglaise and mango sorbet. The Ma Pavlorin desert is another winner. Featuring fresh berries, raspberry sorbet and Chantilly crème in a delicate sphere of meringue, it gives a new meaning to the classic pav.

Bistro Mosman is perfect for a long lunch, decadent dinner, or choose from one of their weekly specials including a $59 - 3 course Local’s Dinner every Tuesday, BYO Wine on Wednesdays and $79 Lunch & Bottomless Rosé from Thursday to Sunday.

Bistro Mosman is open for lunch Thursday - Sunday 12pm - 3pm and dinner Tuesday - Sunday 5.30pm - late.
