Manly Spirits Co.'s Perfect Espresso Martini

Few cocktails have shared the limelight more than the famous Espresso Martini lately, joining vodka and coffee in many creative and delicious methods. Earlier this year, Northern Beaches based Manly Spirits Co. have taken great strides in the espresso martini realm, teaming up with Seven Miles Coffee Roasters to introduce their newest delicious liqueur concoction, BlackFin Coffee Liqueur

The Mosman Nomad team were lucky enough to be invited to the recent Manly Spirits Co. BlackFin Espresso Martini Festival, where owners David Whitaker and Vanessa Wilton deconstructed each step taken in creating the new liqueur, whilst educating fellow cocktail enthusiasts in the secrets behind the perfect espresso martini. Originally famous for their gin and vodka, Vanessa stated a need to embrace the sign of the times and translate their knowledge of botanicals, fragrances and tasting notes towards one of the most popular cocktails of the 21st century. 

Vanessa explained, “Incorporating homegrown botanicals has allowed us to create a truly unique liqueur, for example the inclusion of cinnamon myrtle acts as a subtle taste enhancement to separate our espresso martini from the masses”. The entire process of creating the Blackfin Coffee Liqueur takes approximately 24 hours to complete, entirely situated out of their Brookvale distillery. 

The mastery behind the Blackfin Coffee Liqueur is that it makes any mixologists job that much easier, in that all the hard work has been done in the distillery and delivered into an extremely stylish bottle.


The Manly Spirits Blackfin Coffee Liqueur Espresso Martini

INGREDIENTS

  • 30ml Blackfin Coffee Liqueur 

  • 20ml Manly Spirits Marine Botanical Vodka

  • 20ml Manly Spirits Terra Firma Botanical Vodka

  • 30ml fresh espresso

Method

Combine all liquid ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake hard. Strain into glass.

To garnish, sprinkle a cross of roasted wattle seed or ground coffee.
