Café of the Week: Concrete Jungle, Chippendale
As Chippendale's Kensington Street precinct continues to grow at break neck speed, amidst the herds of city offices, takeaway joints and hole in the wall coffee shops sits the rare and beautiful Concrete Jungle Café. The café has a crisp modern look, white and brass panelling and a brilliant sketch of a majestic lion as you enter the café which sets the scene beautifully.
With a focus on sustainable eating, the menu is primarily plant-based and meat options are ethically sourced. The all day breakfast and lunch menu is unique and extensive. Having never heard of Blue Majik, we were keen to try it and it didn't disappoint. It's blue algae powder (full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties), blended with bananas and blueberries, pineapple and it's topped with coconut flakes and homemade granola - a lovely combination with just the right amount of sweetness. For those who prefer a savoury breakfast, the Coconut Feta and Quinoa Fritters with Coconut Labne, Avocado, Fatoush Salad and Hazelnut is a delicious and healthy choice guaranteed to fill you up for the day.
This superfood loving café has the advantage of being completely unique, together with a great location, excellent service, some jaw-dropping pretty plates and quality coffee to match, you have a winner!
