Bar of the Week: Tonic Lane
A speciality gin bar will always draw people’s attention, yet Tonic Lane seems to take it to the next level. Stocked with drops from Australian front runners, boutique and artisanal distilleries, their redefining of everything from the simple G&T to the most intricate cocktails should be on everyone’s ‘to taste’ list.
Located next to the vibrant hub that is Grosvenor Street in Neutral Bay, Tonic Lane transforms their indoor-outdoor space from friendly daytime café to lively nightspot. Owner Lain’s commitment in her support of Australian distilleries is matched only by her vast knowledge of all the gin on offer. With an arsenal of over 100 varieties of gin, a quick consultation with staff on what you’re looking for or eager to try is the perfect way to kick off or kick on.
Vast menu too confusing? The Australian Gin Flight option will provide an array of three variants of gin to help narrow down and find what will become the new favourite. Specialty gin tasting evenings give patrons the opportunity to expand their horizons and converse directly with Australian distillers.
With Tonic Lane’s ability to pull off the ‘all-rounder’ status of thriving café by day and buzzing bar by night, they’ve filled the gap that’s been vacant in the lower north shore for quite some time.
